JDE Property Management recognizes the importance of protecting your privacy. We follow best practices outlined in the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) regarding how we collect, store, use, and disclose information.

The information we collect is strictly used for the purpose of operating the business. This outlines how we manage and safeguard the privacy of individuals in our business operations based on the Privacy Law.

All information collected is voluntarily provided to us and we will not share it with any third party without prior written consent. All information that is collected is secured and we review our security measures regularly. 

Accountability

The confidentiality of personal information very important to JDE Property Management. While it is necessary that we collect personal information, we are committed to doing so in a manner which complies with Privacy Law.

JDE will only collect, use or disclose personal information for authorized purposes as permitted by Privacy Law. The Privacy Policy will be applied with diligence and care to all our undertakings. The confidentiality, accuracy and security of personal information will be preserved.

 

Upon written request, an individual will be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information and will be given access. Access to personal information will be restricted to those who needs access and for purposes identified.

Purposes

As property managers, we would need to assess potential tenants for their suitability as tenants and collect the necessary basic information should they become tenants. JDE conducts confirmation of the information provided, check references and conduct a history check of each prospective tenant, including following up with the personal references provided. We, or our client, may also contact appropriate public sources or a credit agency and/or a consumer reporting service for information about an individual's suitability as a tenant.

 

The types of personal information we may collect include name, gender, family status, address, electronic address(es), telephone numbers, income or other identifying information, such as driver's license or date of birth.  In addition, images, movements, actions, or other identifiable information about our residents may be captured by video equipment monitoring the common areas at our properties, which are placed to enhance security, safety and reasonable use and enjoyment by all lawful users of the property.

The information collected during the course of the tenancy may be used for purposes of enforcing the terms of the Tenancy Agreement and to obtain a consumer report in the event the tenant is in arrears of rent or wishes to renew their Tenancy Agreement.​

Access to website

Our website utilizes "cookies", which are small files that a site or its service provider transfers to your computer's hard drive through your Web browser (as allowed) that enables the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information. We may also use trusted third party services that track this information on our behalf.

Safeguarding your information

Personal information are retained in compliance with the Privacy Law. Personal information is stored at our offices in Nova Scotia.  

 

Access to your personal information is limited to our employees, client/landlord of the property, agents and service providers who need access in order to provide services to us.


Information stored electronically are protected by passwords and other data security controls.  Banking information provided for the purpose of paying rent or condominium fees by electronic banking is encrypted through software supplied by the banking industry.
